So the desire for starting an online business is calling you. You have some great ideas; have a lot of enthusiasm you’re ready to start. You’re going to make a large amount of money and be your own boss. Acquiring online business information will help you to make some decisions before you begin.
Well, wait a minute regardless of the claims of how easy it is to get rich off the Internet. You will find starting an online business is no different than starting a business in the non-virtual world. Maybe you need to consider some things first to make this profitable and mistake free.
When contemplating starting an online business you need to take an honest look at yourself. What are your skills? What kind of interests do you have? Many people stared their online business in the fields that they worked. A graphic artist could start a web design company or produce custom graphics. You will also want to think about the type of jobs you truly enjoy.
Do your homework to start your online business. Do not make the mistake of putting all your efforts, money and time into a service you want and try and find a market for it. You can not make people like your service or product. Instead, find out what the consumer would like and then design a service or product to fit that need. Also just like a real-world business, there is a certain amount of risk. By doing your homework you can lessen that risk by finding something people will buy and for how much. This allows you to adjust your costs to make sure of a profit.
You also need to study your competition. Find out what they are doing and what works or what doesn’t work. The more online business information that you have in regards to the market and your competition the better chance of success you will have.
When starting your online business you need to have a plan and follow it. What will it cost to start? Where will you get that money? If you are going to ask for a loan you will need to have a business plan to present to the loaning institution. It is a good idea to have a business plan even if you are funding your online business yourself. This will give you some set goals to review.
To get your online business going you will need to make a time commitment and keep it. It will be difficult to keep a full-time job and work on your new online business. You probably will not be able to accomplish that unless you set a specific time to work on it. Starting an online business and making it profitable enough for you to work full time on it does take some time.
You have done the required research, taken the time and made the commitment for your online business. Now you feel that you have a great product that the world wants and price that they can afford and you make a profit. You have one more thing to consider marketing. Your customers need to be able to find your product so they can purchase it. This can be done online, offline, or a combination of them both. You will need to continually study what works and what doesn’t until you find what works for you the best. However, remember what works today, may today may not tomorrow and be able and willing to change your approach to marketing as the consumers dictate.
YOU are committed to your Online Business, right? Does this sound familiar? “I remember a few years back when someone asked me what I did for an income and I told them I have an online business.” “No,” they said, “I mean full time, like a real job!”
Say what?? It made me think, am I really committed to my business?
com·mit·ted /kəˈmidəd/ Submit adjective: committed feeling dedication and loyalty to a cause, activity, or job; wholeheartedly dedicated. “a committed reformer”
And that type of comment, as much as it can hurt, can get you to think about what you’re actually doing. Is your online business really thriving? Like it should be?
Hard as it is to admit, the truth can slap you right upside your face. Are you committed to it, or are you treating it like a hobby? Seriously…
If you look at other online entrepreneurs, all they have is their laptop, an internet connection, and an idea.
But they do a few things differently.
Here are a few suggestions to help you to stay committed to your online business.
1. Show Up
This sounds so obvious, but one of the most important ways for you to stay committed to your business is by showing up. Just like you would if you were running a traditional company. Arrive at work, stay there and leave when you’re done. Yep, close the door to your office if you have one.
2. Focus on Your Business
To be focused is to know who you want to serve, what you want to serve and how you will add value to their lives. Occasionally I’ve looked at a company and wondered how they make any money. Then I realize they are filling a need and they’re adding value to their customers’ lives.
3. Create quality content and Get it Out There
You need to have content on your site that keeps people coming back for more and they must want to share it and pass it on. Include industry tips, comments, and interaction.
4. Always remain true to your brand, from the style, tone and your service
There is no reason to go back and forth with what you want to do. If you need to sit down and make a list, just do it. Save yourself some trouble and get started. You’ll only regret it later if you don’t.
These are the most basic steps you can incorporate. Check back for the most important steps that will turn your online business into a huge success. (See what I did there?)

Blogging 101 is mostly about the blogging vocabulary. To understand blogs and all the intricate details, you need to know the terms blog, platform, domain, and web host.
Once you have mastered these key elements, you can enter any conversation about blogging with confidence. After you know what exactly a blog is, you will be on your way to passing the final exam of blogging 101.
So what is a BLOG?
Blog is short for weblog, which simply means a series of online posts presented in reverse chronological order. That’s all! Most blogs are text, but there are also photo blogs and video blogs.
The rest of blogging 101 has to do with the technical side of things.
The Technical Bits for Blogging
If you are setting up a blog, you will need a platform, a web host, and a domain. A blogging platform is a computer software program that allows you to write posts and to update your blog. Your platform is also what you use to design the look of your blog, from color scheme to font size.
What is a WEB HOST?
The web host is sort of like the virtual file cabinet where your blog is stored. Your computer communicates with the host when you upload or edit a post. The domain is the online address of your blog and usually ends in ‘dot com’. But there are so many other extensions for domain names from ‘dot net’ to ‘dot.co. If you read the article about domain names, you’ll understand.

Being Unique vs. Being Original: Is There a Difference?
Many people like to think of themselves as unique, and they will even interchange the word unique with being original. But are they the same thing? Can you be unique without being original?
Someone who decides they want to stand out may dress in a style that is outside the norm. If you look at people who adopt the Goth look, they often look similar from one Goth dressing person to the next. They may still stand out in a group that is not necessarily into that style. If they went to a Goth convention (if such a thing exists), no one would stand out. You would see variations, but it would be a common theme.
Perhaps you could be considered unique if you decided to wear all your clothes inside out. LOL!
You may even be considered original by doing this. But, what is certain is, you will get many people giving you a strange look. These looks could be exactly what you are going for.
There are also people who reinvent styles that have existed well into the past. Look at the Steampunk movement that has become popular in the last decade or so. This is a style that encapsulates a period where steam technology dominated the planet.
However, it incorporates modern day technology and fashion. It’s a hybrid of old world meets new.
But among the Steampunkers, for lack of a better term, don’t they all look alike, for the most part? Why not combine Steampunk with Goth? It gives a dark twist to the genre and at least initially, will let you stand out. But what happens when it catches on and everyone starts adopting it?
Is it still considered unique or original?
Take a look at the mindmap below and see where you fit in.
There are always those that try to set trends, either in fashion, technology, or both. The ones that do it often enough are called innovators while those who follow are copycats. It would be difficult to find people who would deny Steve Jobs was an innovator. Many believe that Apple will never be the same without him. Others believe he set the stage for Apple to continue as an innovative company for many years to come.
But, no one knows for sure what the future holds. However, people will continue to try what they feel is new when in fact is often just a variation on an existing theme. It’s like the old saying, the more things change, the more they remain the same!
What do YOU think? I NEED to know, so tell me what you think in the comments below.
When it comes to social media, boundaries are important. If you have too few boundaries, you could end up oversharing. This can lead to damaged relationships in real life and depending on what you’re oversharing, the loss of your reputation. This doesn’t build up your confidence either!
To stay comfortable and confident on social media, use these tips…
Set Helpful Limits
Regina liked to lie in bed and surf social media on her phone before going to sleep. But after doing this for several weeks, she noticed the habit was increasing her anxiety and making it difficult to get a restful night’s sleep.
Try this: next time you’re on social media, take a moment to check in with yourself. Are you feeling stressed or overwhelmed? Getting a bit anxious? Or, are you comparing your life to someone else’s?
When it comes to social media, one of the smartest things you can do is to create limits for yourself. You may decide that you’ll only check in on social media once a day or you may want to set a time limit when you browse.
Definition of Confidence:
a feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities.
Your friends on social media are entitled to their opinions. But that doesn’t mean you have to hit like on every single one of Aunt Betty’s political rants or inform your sister that she shared a fake news story (again).
You can choose to hide status updates from people that are consistently negative or that bring you down. A good idea to follow is the three strikes rule. If someone is negative on social media for three posts in a row, hide them.
You can hide friends on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks without having to unfriend or unfollow them. The other person never gets notified that you’ve hidden their content. It’s a great way to distance yourself from unkind remarks and unnecessary drama.
Create a Separate Account
Natalie creates art that makes people think. She likes to explore controversial themes in her work and she’s not afraid to push the envelope. But some of her family members don’t agree with her views and aren’t supportive of her creations.
So, Natalie started a private Instagram account where she shares her art. This allows her to post about her hobby without dealing with negativity from her relatives.
Just like Natalie, you want each of your social media profiles to serve a specific purpose. You might have a Facebook account for staying in touch with distant family and loved ones. But you might dedicate another account, like Instagram or Twitter to sharing content privately.
Social media can be a wonderful tool for connecting and communicating. To get the most out of each network, keep your social feed positive and uplifting. Follow people who inspire you and share your own thoughts authentically.
